The Big Lake Half kicks off with packet pickup at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19th in Alton, NH. The race starts at 8 a.m. and the party goes until 1 p.m.! Click a section below for more details.
The Big Lake Half offers runners a scenic course along winding country roads around beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. Starting on Letter S Road in Alton and finishing in front of ‘Shibley’s at the Pier’ in Alton Bay, this “lollipop” loop course provides spectacular views of forests, quaint cottages, and the White Mountains.
There are five water stops along the course, two of which will also have Gatorade and one will have energy gel! We know that sometimes nature calls at the when it’s least convenient, that’s why we’ve put portable toilets near the corner of Route 11 and Route 11D around Mile 6.
The course is USATF Certified at 13.10938 miles.
Not only do you get a wonderful day of amazingly scenic running, but you’re also treated to an after-party at ‘Shibley’s At The Pier’ overlooking Alton Bay, featuring FREE pizza, local ice cream from Jordan’s, healthy Stonyfield Yogurt, energizing Clif Bars, and Hint flavored water. As if that weren’t awesome enough, runners 21+ get tasty craft beer from Sierra Nevada! The best part? It’s all included with your registration!
Packet pick-up will be held at Alton Central School on the morning of the race from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. where you’ll receive your bib and commemorative race tee! You’ll get your medals at the Finish, as always. Shirts won’t be mailed out after the event if you don’t pick yours up, so don’t oversleep!
There will be a bag drop by the Start from 6:30 a.m. to 7:55 a.m. Be sure to label your bag with your race number and make sure it’s closed tightly to avoid losing anything. We’ll truck the bags to the Finish for you, but you must pick them up by noon. To keep things secure, you’ll have to show your bib to retrieve your bag.
